Today, we met up with the other Aussie marathoners for a pre-marathon briefing. Inspired Adventures have done an amazing job in coordinating the London Marathon fundraising effort for a range of Aussie charities - and the wonderful folks at the Leukaemia Foundation told us that all up, over $100,000 has been raised by the group of 10 Aussies running for Leukaemia on Sunday - and Steve and I together raised $22,000 of that amount! It's a privilege being part of this group. Our pre-briefing was in Hyde Park in the sun - a great setting with lots of joggers running past - even a bloke going for a jog in his suit!
We then did a bus top tour of London - started out sunny but the icy wind and showers moved in and after more than 3 hours on top of the bus we were absolutely chilled to the bone. So at the end of the bus tour, I wrapped a pashmina around my neck, put up my 5 pound umbrella, sprinted through the icy rain - grabbed a coffee at the coffee shop, and then retreated to my hotel room to thaw out for the rest of the day!
Looking out the bus window, I thought about all the people moving about on the streets with padded jackets, boots and umbrellas - and wondered how the heck I would go on Sunday if the weather was the same! Only one way to keep warm on Sunday at the marathon - and that's to keep moving fitsista!
