The past few weeks have been amazingly busy training, fund raising – and working. The Athlete’s Dinner at the Australian Institute of Sport on Friday 9 March was a hugely successful night – more than 200 people attended from across the Canberra business and sporting community. And we were all inspired by the awesome stories from two of Australia’s greatest Olympians – Robert De Castella and Michael Milton. The iconic AIS venue was brilliant and the food was excellent – and for me it was a real family night, sharing the occasion with Allan, our daughters and their sporting lads, and my wonderful sister Maureen who came up from Melbourne for the occasion. There were other athlete’s in attendance – a number of whom donated some of their personal sporting memorabilia to be auctioned – how cool and how awesome!
We had the most remarkable organising team – a group of dedicated and innovative volunteers from work who worked tirelessly to put the whole event together. Thank you event team!!
The stories from Rob De Castella and Michael Milton really demonstrate that there’s no such thing as “can’t” – and to look for challenges that train the mind to train the body.
