Over the past few years, I have lost 25kg - a real team effort with Allan who is now my personal trainer. This year, I have completed two half-marathons and on 9-10-11 I completed the full Melbourne Marathon! We are working on other challenges to keep the fitness journey interesting...The LONDON MARATHON in April 2012! Along the way, I am interested in hearing about other fit sistas, and will be posting inspirational articles and stories...

Allan - My PT!
One of the many wonderful things about Allan doing his PT qualification, is that I get lots of really good advice and get to try out his cool an innovative workouts! On Friday night, Allan put me through a really good medicine ball workout. Saturday - we did a 7km run around the lake. Today - a wonderful Sunday morning workout using a kettle bell through different exercises. After we had finished, another Fitness First member came up to Allan and asked about the circuit Allan had designed for me - Allan emphasised his philosophy was about functional fitness for life - which means exercising hard, strengthening the core BUT not doing exercises that are risky. We had a conversation about high box jumps being unnecessary and risky but looking at alternate exercises. After all, my objective is to do a marathon - so strength and stamina are important - and I want to avoid injury. The Fitness First member asked Allan if he could do a program for her when he finished his course - how cool! Allan finishes his PT course this week - go Allan!!
